Pragati ( Arcade) is located in Sushant Lok, behind Sushant Shopping Arcade in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. There are 3 classrooms within the government provided building, and 3 classrooms in partially covered sheds outside, built by Pragati to accommodate the others. Among the 2 other rooms, one is occupied by the mandatory government teachers, another doubles as a computer room and a staff room for the Pragati staff and administrator. All classrooms are equipped with tables, chairs , black board and soft boards. There is open ground for the children to play around the school. We have separate toilets for boys and girls.
A small store houses essentials like books, bags, uniform, stationery etc for distribution. Small cupboards house the library books and art materials, all generously donated by individuals.
A kitchen supplies filtered water to all, tea to the staff and the occasional meal for the kids when required, as now the midday meal is centrally distributed by the government everyday.
This is a primary school from Nursery to class 5. The number of students per class ranges from 15 to 30. While some teachers are employed for the half school day, others come in a few hours to volunteer as teachers of specific subjects.
The administrators at the Arcade premises are Ms. Arati Kaul and Ms. Sheela Menon.
There is a caretaker cum attendant, Mr.Tapan, who resides with his family in the premises’ first floor. His daughters graduated from Pragati as well.
